She told me that it says the main character “began to think maybe it was true that when you were married and had children it was like being brainwashed, and afterward you went about as numb as a slave in a totalitarian state.”

I think it’s silly, myself. Anyway I don’t get much time to read these days. I don’t know how Francine manages it, and maybe she shouldn’t. It can breed unhappiness.
